- If the parent chooses they can contact the school with documentation of the positive test.

- Crossing Guard on the highway:
- New community going in across the highway, can the city provide signage for a school zone? Shellie will talk to the city.
- Having a sign saves money, but we care more about the safety of all the kids coming to school.
- Shellie would like to continue this discussion.

- Jessica asked if we’ll have to make up the other half of the counselor’s salary? The answer is no, the district will pay the other half that is not in the TSSA Budget.
- Looking to hire a new reading aide
- New Business:
- Crossing Guard on Highway update:
- Shellie got a hold of the city, but there is no bus that goes over there so having a crossing guard is not an option for this year. The city said that they will look into getting flags to cross on the crosswalk. Needs to be discussed in the future.
- Students that live on the west side of the highway can be dropped off at the church and walk from there.
- Jeffrey informed us that there are “school crosswalk” signs posted by the Maverick
- Shellie reviewed the SNAP Plan with the council. Bryce moved to maintain the SafeRoutes and Jessica Seconded it.
- Summary of goal progress from last year:
- Shellie will put the data together and email it out to the council by the 20th of October.
- School Happenings:
- A parent reached out asking if we could provide a water bottle filling station at the school. It is $939 for a wall mounted Bottle Filling Station and $1081.54 to have it with a drinking fountain both the Elkay brand. Shellie is going to bring this up as a fundraiser idea for the PTA. Shellie is also going to reach out to Bruce from the district to see if we can have an upgrade.
- The Family Place is coming to do a Kids Empowered presentation for each grade level at the end of October. Parents are invited to come.
- Eagle Eyes (student council made up of 36 sixth grade students) attended a conference about student council at the city building. They meet every Friday. Eagle Eyes wants to invite speakers from the conference to present at our school for Red Ribbon Week.
- PTA swag is available to order. There are sweats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts with the 3 R’s on them.
- CRAZE Stop the Bleed training for the White Pine Staff went really well! There is a “Stop the Bleed” kit in the lunchroom. The school’s safety committee is meeting to see if they can get more kits. Shellie shared with us good tidbits from the training.
- School LAND Trust Training Review: Jeffrey brought up the idea of using a “mini grant” this is new! This is where you can apply for a mini grant to carry over more than 10% at the end of the year.
- Shellie has updated the website except for the teacher list.

- Jeffrey Sweet and Melanie Sweet resigned from the council for personal reasons.
- Welcome Jenifer Lewis and Natalie Wood (Shellie and Jessica updated contact sheet)
- Daniela, our school counselor, introduced herself to the council and explained what she's been doing at the school. She teaches one lesson to each class once a month and has been meeting with students individually with consent. She is beginning friendship groups this week to help students with social skills. She is also sending out a monthly newsletter to each family (1 per family) so families can talk about what they are learning from the counselor at school.
- SEL: Social Emotional Learning teaches social skills and dealing with emotions. The school district website has all the curriculum and tools for SEL. The council asked for Shellie to send this link https://www.ccsdut.org/Page/7350 out to the parents.
- Action Steps for Shellie: Finalize SNAP plan and check up on drinking fountain status.

- New Business
- Trust Land Final Report (review last year’s progress) Shellie went over school reading goals. Goal: 80% (of lowest 25%) will show growth, 77.5% did! Goal: 80% will average 85% or higher on Go Math tests, 60% did. Full time counselors help overall mental health for students, Counselor met with 56 students last year. Shellie went over 2020 Targets & Results for 2020 and compared them White Pine’s score as well as our school report card.
- Jessica asked if 44% of low-income students were applying for free or reduced lunch. Shellie asked Teri to reach out and see where the state got that 44% number. (Can we qualify for title 1?)
- Jenifer asked about a plan for increased class sizes, Terri informed us they are making a committee to analyze data of what’s going to happen with the new subdivisions being built. The district increased by 750 students. There are 11 elementary schools that are over capacity. The district is very on top of it.
- Next month we will discuss this year’s progress and make plans for next year
- Digital Citizenship PDF from the District: Shellie showed and explained the digital citizenship form and how we review this as a school to keep students and teachers safe using technology. The school librarian is teaching digital citizenship as part of her curriculum, students will attend an assembly on digital citizenship.
- Principal’s 200 Club and School Wide Expectations: Shellie introduced her new 200’s club and how she has set behavior expectations for every part of the school. Students can get an “Eagle Ticket” for doing something great and Shellie will call and inform parents, and they get to put their name in the 200 chart. This chart will start in February.
- Thank you to PTA for raising money for One Book One School, we will sell some more pizzas to raise the remaining amount so Shellie will kiss a pig!
- Jessica asked if any other parents are hearing that their kids are not having enough time to eat lunch. -There are 20 minutes allotted to eat lunch, if they are not done eating they can go to a table at the front to finish.
- Shellie followed-up about the water bottle fountain, if we get the money “Bruce” can install it.
- Jenifer asked about the flag out front, Shellie is going to have Daniel replace it.
- Shellie asked the council if they wanted to set the goals for next year, or just approve the ones that Shellie sets, they decided to approve the ones that Shellie sets.

- New Business - Shellie
- Trust Land Final Report: There is a carry over of about $4,000 because it's less than 10% it will carry over to this year. Shellie presented all the school´s goals and the results. A main focus was on the bottom 25% students in each class. The goal was to have 80% of those students move to benchmark, 2,4,5,6 did meet reading goal K,3,5 did meet the math goal for lowest 25% of students. Most grades had at risk students grow and move to reading benchmark through the year. Shellie read the final report.
- Jessica asked if the goal applies to all kids with IEPs. Answer: Yes
- Jenifer asked if the i-ready diagnostic is part of the school math goal. Answer: No
- Jenifer brought up parent volunteers and wondered if that would help the numbers. This could be more promoted at this school.
- Natalie asked about the student to teacher ratio, we had a discussion about what we are going to do with all the new subdivisions coming up. Shellie explained the process of getting new teachers.
- Crossing Guard: There are new subdivisions coming up across the highway, Shellie encouraged parents to email the city and ask for another crossing guard. Or even having flags! Training students how to cross the highway. Shellie asked to bring this up every meeting! We could get a video?
- Shellie is going to email the major asking for the flags, and Bryce is going to talk to his friend in the city as well.
- Bryce found out they are illegal because it´s state property. He said to communicate with the parents or put in a bus stop.
- Jenifer brought up the idea of emailing the families that live on the other side of the highway and update them on the status of ¨getting a crossing guard¨ on the highway what we´ve found out with getting a crossing guard and listing ideas for families to use as their children cross the highway.
- Ideas for Parents with children crossing the highway:
- Some parents have walked their children across
- Some parents have parked in the church parking lot
- Parents switch off crossing with children
- Volunteer crossing guards (Shellie said she or city can supply vests)
- Parents can purchase a light or flag to have their children hold as they cross the highway.
- Jessica led an official vote on approving the final report. All 6 members in attendance voted to approve.
- Ideas for using Trust Lands and TSSA funds for next year:
- Shellie shared our current data so the council could see where our needs are. Shellie went over new school procedures: Eagle Academy & Office Referral forms. The referral forms seem to be helping. 3
- Share School survey data-Shellie shared the feedback she received from the school survey. There were multiple concerns about the front door being unlocked and the safety issues that could come from that. There were a lot of safety concerns brought up in the comments. The safety committee is working hard to solve these problems.
- We need to educate parents on how we are using powerschool as an elementary school.
- SOAR Report: This was sent to council before the meeting and Shellie highlighted a few key points on it.
- *Jessica brought up doing a summer reading and math program something fun during the summer and having a prize! IV.

- Trust Lands and TSSA Budget Review 2021-2022
- We are on track to use at least 90% of the funds. Justin asked if there would be any left over funds to give aids bonus’, Shellie let us know that we can't do that, but the district is in charge of wages and pay scale. No other questions.
- New Business-Shellie
- Revised parent handbook with a new section about crosswalk at the highway not having crossing guards.
- Shellie read the new revised section in the handbook, the council felt it was very well stated. Jenifer brought up the fact that there are other areas where children have to cross that are very dangerous and students should follow these guidelines.
- New Trust Lands and TSSA school goals draft for approval
- New allocation for Trust Lands $56,138 (last year $58,380): This is made up from lands that are owned by the school children lands of Utah. These funds are allocated to each school based on the earnings of these funds and then they are divided by all the students in the state based on how many students are in the school.
- Important Notes:
- Allotment $56,138
- Goal: reading goal for k-6:
- 1. k-3 74.5% were on benchmark for Acadience goal is to raise it 76% for middle of the year
- 2. 2-6 HMH growth Measure 84% of students are on or approaching or above grade level the goal is to increase that to 86% for middle of the year
- This money will pay for 5 aides ($55,000) and a substitute teacher for IEP days ($990) This plan would cost us $55,990.
- All teachers k-6 will get at least 3 hours a month to meet in teams (3 times)
- Teachers will meet with reading facilitator 3 times a year (no extra cost, but will go towards the goal)
- Jenifer asked how much we're paying aides and how we are going to pay them with the cost of leaving. Right now aides are making $12, will that go up?
- Jenifer also asked if we could include something on parent volunteers coming to volunteer at the school
- Bryce Woods moved to approve the goals, Jennifer seconded the motion. We had ⅞ votes to approve the goals. One of the 8 was absent (Kelly Crafts.) Zero did not approve.
- TSSA allocation not out yet (last year $56,033?):
- Terri gave us a quick run-down on how this account was created. The government is required to put a percentage of what they spend on education each year into this account every year.
- These funds will pay for half of the counselors salary (about $17,000)
- Hire two pair para professionals (about $26,000) in younger grades
- I-ready (my path) will used to help in 1-6 use this school wide as math tier 2 our school (will cost about $500 a grant will cover the rest)
- Terri educated us on how education funds are allocated for Utah
- Shellie shared with us all the funds that she gets for the school

- Is there a way we could kill grass to make boundaries? We could move the goals on the same side and make the soccer fields half fields. Shellie will talk to Daniel, to help with recess issues.

- Jenifer asked if we could put volunteer help on the just serve app? To help with recess?
- It would cost $38,000 to hire a halftime teacher, could we use our TSSA budget to do that?

- Shellie gave us each a copy of the updated budgets and we will have less than 10% of the budget left, which is good.
- New Business
- Discuss changes to TSSA budget
- Part of the school math goal is to purchase ipads for the younger grades, due to the supply chain Shellie had to order the ipads NOW. She was awarded $5,000 which was spent on the ipads and some of this year’s TSSA budget. Next year’s TSSA funds will be spent on a half-day teacher’s salary to have a half-day teacher in fourth grade.
- Jennifer brought up that we should send a letter to the parents of this grade making them aware that there will be one half-day class next year.
- Jessica brought up putting a general school supply list on the website for grade
- Jennifer asked if the class lists could be emailed out
- Can parents bring supplies to back to school night?
- Discuss plan for next year’s election - Keep everyone on the council and add 2 more parent members.
- Follow up on the playground and field:
- Daniel (Custodian) didn’t like killing the grass to make fields, brought up painting the fields
- Shellie loves the idea of turning the goals so there are two fields (hopefully this can happen)
- Celebrations focusing on growth for reading were brought up, Shellie is going to assign this to the cultural committee.
